Young love gets a bad rap .. its too clingy… it’s too dramatic .. they aren’t old enough to know what love is. They are too young to be so serious. But the thing is… Young love can be all that.. but young love is a very different thing then true love. I have had the privilege of watching this young couple grow up together. They started dating as freshman in high school and they have just finished their first year at college – Apart. These two have a kinder and more respectful relationship then I see many adults have. They appreciate each other and have allowed each other the space to continue to grow independently into young adulthood. They are different, yet appreciate those differences that balance each other out. I have watched my nieces boyfriend Jordan carefully bandage up her blistered heels while they sat on the couch before Junior Prom. I have seen them give each other the space to be themselves – the space to maintain their separate friendships – the space to grow together while they continue to grow up. They support each others dreams – as they start contemplating their own lifelong dreams together. We knew we needed to make a point to capture some images of them together when he came for a visit this summer – so with 30 minutes to spare before my sons soccer game we hit up one of my favorite locations and started shooting. Here are just a few of my favorites to prove that young love is just as strong when it is true love.
