Finally getting around to blogging some pictures from our trip to Colorado. The interesting thing is that I really was BAD (for me) at documenting Colorado once I finally got there. It is much easier to document our life when it is just the 5 of us… but when I am with other families…especially when that other family is mine – then I am hard pressed to pick up the camera . A.) I am too busy and B.) I don’t want to be overly obnoxious. I think it was the last night and I realized I hadn’t even taken any photos of us all hanging out in the house. So I really just put on my mom photographer hat… didn’t try to get all creative… just tried to capture moments… poses and all. Whitewater rafting for the first time, swimming in the hot springs and cheering on Emerson to pass the swim test so she could go to the “fun side” of the lake. There was paddle boarding and long hikes up to waterfalls, Homemade dinners featuring something that resembled fried rice – as Katie said…. “Well, Jordan will eat it” – I died laughing on the inside of course – a college football player eating something isn’t necessarily a good gauge of whether food is edible or not…:) Games at night featuring Beer Pong ( Kaytlin and I – best team ever), Rumicube and Heads up and finally jeep tours up terrifying cliffs as I yelled to the Driver to “SLOW YOUR ROLL” – those who know me, know that I drive painfully slow. A special thank you to my parents for planning this trip. Planning a trip with a non-planner – such as myself is probably the hardest thing to do. We had such an incredible time just being together. If you are looking for a place in Colorado that isn’t overrun by tourist that I can not suggest Ouray, Colorado enough. I simply can not wait to go back!! Sorry in advance for the image heavy post… I was one of the only ones taking photos and everyone has not seen them yet. If anyone curious 75% of the images were shot with my 24-120 mm lens – a great all purpose lens – when you just want to “do it all” and you are just to plain laze to switch out lenses like I was on this trip.
Proud of my Em – she didn’t pass the swim test the first time ( which was shocking) I think she got in her head and then panicked… BUT 2nd time she did it – and man was she proud as was I.
and this would be a typical family photo of my crew (minus Sutton)
They went to hug it out when Paul was heading home a day early… I missed the shot and so I asked them to do it again.. and this was what I got… kinda funny.
We hit the road bright and early on Fathers day – and afters 9 hours in the car I made sure to capture a few photos at our Stop in Amarillo – My husband is kinda one of the best dads out there. We are his life and I hope he knows that he is ours.
