After waiting in carpool line for the last two weeks one thing became blatantly obvious… there were not a ton of kids Haydens age waiting to be picked up -seems that many of them are walking home afterschool. See our neighborhood is literally a bubble. We can walk to all three schools .. .heck I don’t even think we have a bus system. So walking home really only means he walks through a greenbelt to our home. So I figured it was time to lengthen the tie that binds us together. Give him a little more of that well deserved responsibility that all kids crave.
So with the new rules established my little man was on his way. If I am being completely honest I thought the novelty would wear off after he walked home in the 100 degree weather. No such luck…so it is offficial – he is on his own for at least 10 minutes of the day. Left to fend for himself in the wild.
