So before I get a lot of questions from people asking why there seems to be a million photos of my little girl but that I seem to be ignoring my beautiful 6 year old – I want to explain. After seeing Hayden shy away from having his photo taken-I have told Hayden that while sometimes I may need him to take a picture here and there, I will try and respect his space. With that said – Ms. Em isn’t old enough to tell me she doesn’t like it, so I will continue to stalk her like the paparazzi that I think I am . After dropping off Gma and Gpa at the airport this morning, we headed to the duck pond to feed the ducks . Unfortunately, duck feeding didn’t last quite as long as I had hoped as I think the concept of bite- sized pieces was a little over her head. Didn’t matter to her – once the ducks devoured our buns it was time to just explore. I brought my 70-200 mm. lens – which was a risky move for this momtog. Trying to chase a 2 year old with a big telephoto lens is tough stuff and then to actually get far enough away to photograph her is even more difficult. She had so much fun and even though I was photographing her every move and trying to anticipate where she was going to go next…. it was the first time I was able to enjoy the moment as well. For all of you new photographers out there – you get what I am saying. As you are learning about lighting and shooting in manual , it is easy to get wrapped up in all the intricacies of just trying to get a good photo… that by the end you forgot to enjoy where you were and who you were with. Today – I finally felt like I made it to the other side. I was able to relax and have fun with my sweet girl. …and still get those photos that melt my heart.
Wendy Rakvica - i know exactly how you feel! im so glad you feel you have made it to the other side cause i still havent..lol! im always switching everything and that does make it hard to enjoy moments like you did today, so im so glad you did! hopefully it will happen for me soon..lol!
admin - ohh I am so glad I am not the only one. That phase was hard to for me to get used to – as I used to just take photos but still be “present” in the moment… it has taken a full year of constant shooting – to finally feel confident in my settings..Wendy – how close are you to Dallas? I would love to get together sometime!
