Paying Homage to my 700

We went to our local “beach”… which is far from a real beach – but I wondered would I be able to make it look like a beautiful sandy oasis as opposed to a small slightly run-down lake.  I shot away as I usually do – playing with light the way that I love to. As we packed up our stuff and headed back to the car.. I started looking through the images so excited to see what I had taken.  I don’t know what happened but as if in slow motion as I was getting into the car –  I screamed “nooooooooooo” and the camera crashed to the ground. In a panic, I gathered my “baby” up into my arms. I knew something serious had happened when that Error notice popped up on the screen.  With important shoots lined up – and no time to wait for Nikon to fix it.  I knew the time had come to retire my camera .  My heart broke. … I LOVED my 700 – it has provided me and many families with irreplaceable memories. It helped me become a better photographer with its AMAZING focusing system.  I know people say it isn’t about the Camera – but it doesn’t hurt to have a camera that performs as amazing as the 700 did for me.

I knew it would be near impossible to get my hands on an 800… but lo and behold my local camera shop had one available. I quickly snatched it up and can not wait to share with you what I think about it.

Here are the images from our final shoot.

Disclaimer: The image below was as Emerson fell out of his arms… I cringed to as I worried about her arm but by the look on her face…she knew exactly what she was doing..

    Soly - I’m so sorry!
those pictures are amazing. Are those straight out of camera?
I’m starting my photo business and I’m upgrading for a Canon 5D or a 7D. but seeing those incredible pictures with a 7D makes it an easy choice…..
i’m sure your enjoying your new 800!ReplyCancel

Rosie Suerdieck - Oh, wow! I am so sorry about your 700….my heart would break if anything happened to my “other” child (which also happens to be a 700)! 😉 Beautiful images, though…despite the sad ending, it seems like the 700 did well for you until it’s very last day.ReplyCancel
